Napa Valley

Breathtaking views, delicious wine, pastries and a friendly reminder about the
beauty of California – I still can’t believe how wonderful the day has been.

It’s been the first bigger trip out of the city since I am back from my vacation in
Germany (middle of August) and even though Napa Valley is just a 1.15h drive
away from San Francisco, it felt like a mini vacation – so refreshing.

My friend and I didn’t really plan anything in particular. We just left the
city around 9.30am, heading to Napa, world famous for their vineyards.
I have the feeling those are often the best trips. Spontenous deicisons leading
to fun surprises.

Our first stop has been to the Stags Leap Winery, one of California’s earliest
wine estates. The yards were beautiful, the staff was very welcoming and we had
the chance to have a look inside for a wine tasting.
We visited two other winerys. The Raymond Vineyards has a „Corridor of Senses“
where guests can experience the color, smell and texture of wine.
Since I am not a wine expert at all, this was a great place feel how wine can display
various textures on the palate, see different color shades of wine displayed on the
wall, and smell the complex aromas found in wine. Recommending for all ages!

In Yountville we had to stop at the „Bouchon Bakery“. I love little places like this with a great atmosphere, where you’re happy to sneak in a cheat meal and treat
yourself. All of their recipes are based on traditional French baking techniques and
I really needed some time to decide. Since it’s fall the Pumpkin Cheesecake won.
It’s been incredible delicious!
After a short stop at the nearest Outlet Mall where I caught two Levis jeans and an Adidas sport outfit we headed back to San Francisco as the sun set.

Driving through the wine hills while the whole land turned into a soft red has been
really romantic. And I remembered how beautiful California is. Sometimes when
you’re stuck in your everyday life you forget how wonderful and breathtaking the
world is around you.
That trip brought me back in the present. Julia – It’s already October.
Your time at this magical place is flying. Stop worrying and enjoy every minute of it!

On our way back we made a quick detour to the Hippi Hill in Tiburon.
From there you have one of the best views to the city! The sunset made it a
magical end of a perfect day!
